Adrian Paci, born in 1969 in Shkodër, Albania, brings the raw and intimate feelings of exile and migration into his art. In 1997, when violence tores through Albania, Paci makes the difficult choice to flee to Milan. This experience of being uprooted is at the heart of his artworks, touching on themes many can relate to, separation, longing, and the quest to find a place where we truly belong. It is this very human experience that runs through his piece on display at Fenix.

Centro di Permanenza Temporanea (2007) is a film that shows migrants standing on an airport runway, waiting for a plane that will never arrive. Their faces reflect a quiet mix of fear and hope, stuck in the uncertainty of what comes next. Although it was filmed in California, it could be anywhere, capturing the reality of countless people whose lives are paused in limbo, waiting at the expense of something or someone to change their fate.

This is the contradictory state of being permanently temporary.
