Language learning
Practice Dutch with the Fenix collection
Language learning is more than just sitting behind the desk. It happens outside the classroom while experiencing new things too. We invite NT2 teachers to use Fenix collection and exhibition space to help their students practice Dutch.
Teaching materials
Working closely with NT2 teachers, we developed three sets of teaching materials, suitable for levels ranging from A0 to B1+. Each set links to themes and learning goals across different language levels, and is connected to the Fenix art collection. Works of art about migration, personal stories and history provide a powerful starting point for learning Dutch as a second language.
Each set includes a preparatory assignment for the classroom, a self-guided museum visit with tailored exercises, and a follow-up assignment for back at school. All activities focus on vocabulary, reading and writing – with speaking practice at the heart of it.
The material was created for adult second-language learners, but is also suitable for younger participants, such as pupils in a bridging class.

Book your group visit
You can easily book an NT2 group visit through our website. The cost is €50 per group – this ticket gives access to all exhibitions and the Tornado. The teaching materials are provided free of charge. After completing your reservation, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to the materials, so you can get started right away.
Get started
For the first part – the preparatory lesson in the classroom – you’ll need a (colour) printer or a screen. Some assignments use videos and audio clips, so a screen with sound will also come in handy.
Preview learning materials
Here’s a preview of the learning materials. It gives you a taste of the themes, assignments and activities you can expect.
