Freelance Producer
Fenix, Rotterdam | Hours by agreement | Start: immediately | Duration: 3-months
Are you an experienced organiser with a feel for atmosphere, hospitality, and storytelling? Do you turn programmes into memorable experiences and enjoy working with creative partners? Then Fenix may be your next temporary stop.
About Fenix
Fenix is Rotterdam’s new museum about migration. Artists, photographers, chefs and other creative makers share stories here that cross borders – about love and farewell, coming home and feeling at home, identity and the search for happiness. In this historic place of departure and arrival we show that migration is timeless and deeply personal.
The team
As a freelance producer you join the Programming team. We develop and deliver public events on Plein: from intimate talks and film nights to festivals, food events, and large-scale openings. We work with makers, cultural organisations, and communities from Rotterdam and beyond. Because we’re running many events, we’re looking for a hands-on freelance colleague who can also be available in the evenings and on weekends.
What you’ll do
- Produce Fenix events from planning to delivery, working closely with marketing, facilities/tech, hospitality and F&B, plus external partners;
- Translate event concepts into clear, workable run sheets;
- Coordinate suppliers, partners, and artists;
- Monitor budgets, make arrangements, and handle admin;
- Be on site during events and brief/guide colleagues;
- Evaluate productions and suggest improvements.
Who you are
- At least 5 years’ experience in event production or (pre-)production, preferably in the cultural or creative sector;
- Structured, calm under pressure, and good at keeping overview;
- Social and hospitable; you enjoy working with different teams and partners;
- Strong sense for audience experience and storytelling;
- Familiar with Rotterdam’s cultural field; you connect with makers and communities;
- You communicate clearly in Dutch and English. Other languages are a plus;
- Affinity with migration, art, and culture.
What Fenix offers
- A chance to play a key role in building a new cultural icon in Rotterdam;
- A varied role in a young, driven, and growing organisation.
Fenix is building a team that reflects Rotterdam’s cultural diversity. Our vacancies are open to everyone.
