Security Coordinator
Fenix, Rotterdam | 32-40 hours per week | starting date: asap
Are you an experienced and collaborative coordinator with a clear vision for safety? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where culture, safety, and hospitality converge? Fenix is looking for an energetic and proactive security coordinator who can make a difference. Then Fenix might be your next stop.
About Fenix
Fenix is Rotterdam's new art museum dedicated to migration. Artists, photographers, chefs, and other creatives tell stories that transcend borders. About love and farewell, coming home and feeling at home, identity, and the search for happiness. At this historic place of departure and arrival, where millions of Europeans once departed, and people from all over the world arrived, we demonstrate that migration is timeless and personal.
About the role
As a security coordinator within the Facilities Team, you will be the first point of contact for all security matters. You will be responsible for the safety of visitors, employees, and artworks, both at the organisational and building levels. You will ensure everything runs smoothly: from managing and coaching the security team to developing and implementing security procedures and plans.
You will work closely with your colleagues on the Facilities Team, who are responsible for the maintenance and management of the building in collaboration with external parties. By creating a safe, well-organised, and structured work environment, you will directly contribute to the safety and trust of visitors. Together, you will ensure that Fenix is a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning environment, both in front of and behind the scenes.
What are you going to do?
- You develop and ensure security and safety policies, including procedures and risk analyses;
- You coordinate the response to incidents and emergencies and ensure that everyone is properly trained (emergency response, evacuation, etc.);
- You monitor the operation of our security systems;
- You make proposals for improvements to systems and building-related measures;
- You maintain contact with the police, fire brigade, municipality and security partners and represent Fenix in safety consultations;
- You monitor the security budget and prepare reports on incidents, risks and areas for improvement.
Who are you?
- You are a team player, a connector with a warm personality;
- You are flexible and able to adapt to the evolving circumstances of an organisation in development;
- You have completed a relevant training or course, for example, in the field of integrated safety science or security management;
- You have demonstrable experience with (operational) management in security, preferably in a public or cultural environment such as a museum, theatre or event location;
- You have knowledge of and experience in coordinating calamities, and you remain calm and organised in stressful situations
- You are enthusiastic, representative, careful and proactive;
- You have a flexible attitude (also in terms of working hours) and are a real team player with an eye for both safety and hospitality;
- You preferably live in Rotterdam or the immediate vicinity (so that you can be on location within approximately 30 minutes);
- You are fluent in Dutch and English. We want to welcome our visitors in a wide variety of languages. Do you speak other languages? Fantastic!
- You have an affinity with the themes of migration and culture.
What does Fenix offer you?
- A versatile role in an international, cultural and entrepreneurial environment;
- An inspiring team that works together on meaningful experiences;
- A salary of €4000 - €4.500 gross per month (based on 40 hours), depending on experience;
- Good secondary employment conditions, including a pension plan and travel allowance;
- Training and development opportunities;
- A healthy, vegetarian lunch at the office;
- An extra day off for personal or cultural celebration;
- Unlimited access to professional guidance and mental support via OpenUp.
