IFFR at Plein

IFFR has long been a global reference point for film lovers. The festival supports independent filmmakers and presents cinema in all its forms. For Rotterdam, it is a fixed highlight of the year. From 6 to 8 February, Plein is dedicated to IFFR.

Throughout the weekend, Plein transforms into a walk-in cinema, screening short film programs in an informal setup. The program regularly engages with themes of migration and is supported by partners such as the Displacement Film Fund, Buddy Film Foundation and COC Rotterdam. Films by local makers (RTM) are also shown, alongside collaborations with local organisations including Skateland, Dokhuis and mint2.

Each day, alongside film screenings and Q&As, there are creative activities such as embroidering the iconic IFFR tiger or the workshop Drawing the Tiger, where participants can experiment with painting and mixed-media techniques.

A vibrant embroidery of a tiger with colorful wings appears on a riverside street.
