On her shoulders is a documentary about the hidden stories of Turkish and Moroccan women in Rotterdam.
About the documentary
The film follows Elif and her granddaughter Oriana, as well as Mina and Chahira, highlighting the experiences of these generations of women. In the 1960s and 1970s, they played an important role in the city, often unnoticed. The documentary shows how these women tell their stories and how they have shaped the city.

Before the premiere, join us for a Turkish dinner (6 PM – 7 PM), prepared by Aysel Kaya and Elvan Ünlü, two Rotterdam-based creators with Turkish roots, who combine their love for food, photography, and storytelling.
