Fenix is the art museum about migration in Rotterdam. Here, you encounter stories of love and farewell, arriving and belonging, identity and the search for happiness. Fenix offers spaces for events in an inspiring setting, surrounded by art and overlooking the city.
A distinctive venue among art and the Tornado
Fenix is housed in a historic warehouse, with the Tornado at its heart. Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD Architects, this sculptural staircase connects the ground floor, the first floor and the viewing platform above. Throughout the museum, migration is explored through the eyes of international artists, alongside hundreds of documentary photographs and personal stories.
For corporate events, Fenix offers two venues: the Atrium and Plein.

The atrium
Fenix brings together art, architecture and stories of migration in a prominent location in Rotterdam. This makes the museum a distinctive setting for lectures, symposiums, exclusive dinners, receptions and corporate gatherings.
Guests are welcomed on the ground floor for drinks, before continuing to the first floor, where the programme unfolds with views of both the artworks and Rotterdam’s skyline.
At Fenix, meetings take place among art rather than in a standard meeting room. You can also combine your event with a visit to the exhibitions, a private tour or a route through the museum. This adds a meaningful dimension that encourages conversation and new perspectives.
The atrium can be hired in full or in part, allowing the space to suit the size and format of your event. The atrium is available exclusively outside Fenix’s regular opening hours.
Plein
Plein is Fenix’s meeting place. Visitors can drop in for a coffee, read a newspaper, work, or play a game. Activities and public programmes take place here throughout the week. View the Plein programme.
Thanks to its open layout and generous floor space, Plein is well suited to gatherings, talks and other events with an accessible and informal character.
The space includes a theatre set-up with audiovisual facilities for up to 50 guests. Without projection facilities, the theatre area can accommodate up to 100 guests. Curtains can be drawn to separate the theatre section from the rest of the space.
During opening hours, Plein is available for corporate events that complement its public function. On Mondays, Plein can be hired exclusively.

Catering
We provide tailored catering for every event. Whether you are looking for coffee and pastries, drinks and canapés, or a full dinner, we will work with you to create an arrangement that suits your event and guests. All catering at Fenix is provided by Vermaat Events.
