Primary education (ages 10 to 12)
At Fenix, students encounter different perspectives on migration. Through stories told by artists from around the world, they explore themes such as love, saying goodbye, finding home, happiness and hope.
Visit Fenix
In All Directions, students aged 10 to 12 can follow a special school route around the theme of home. Using a booklet with questions, creative activities and drawing assignments, students explore the exhibition independently.
Visiting from outside The Netherlands?
The school routes are only available in Dutch. If you’re visiting with an international class, you’re very welcome to explore Fenix at your own pace. Book your visit using the link at the end of this page.

“When do you feel at home?”
School route: Home
With this school route, students explore six artworks from the Fenix collection. Along the way, they encounter different artists’ perspectives on migration and the meaning of home.
The activities encourage students to look closely at the artworks and make personal connections with what they see. They explore how artists represent these themes, while also thinking about what they mean to them personally.
Questions include: What does home mean to you? When do you feel at home? Is there a dish that reminds you of home? Can you take a piece of home with you when you move somewhere else?
The school route was designed by Vormlust. Students can keep their booklet and take it home after their visit.
Please note that the school routes are only available in Dutch. International students can explore the museum at their own pace.
