At the moment, people are working hard on the restoration of Fenix Warehouse II. One of the construction workers is Edward Ernest. As a concrete blaster, his job is to clean the original concrete, which dates from 1923.
“The best part of all is that my father became a concrete blaster after his time at the port. He was 53 when he stopped working. As for me, I just started when I was 53.”- Edward Ernest
Gregg Telussa and Debbie Kleijn, two filmmakers from Rotterdam, are making a series of short films for FENIX. In the film you'll find below, Edward tells why he started working as a concrete blaster – like his father before him.
“I'll keep going until the last centimetre of concrete is clean. Not just for myself, but especially for my father. To make him proud.”- Edward Ernest
