Together with the team, I am developing FENIX. This ranges from rebuilding the warehouse, making acquisitions for the collection and organising the culinary programme to building the team. I look forward to welcoming you to FENIX in 2025!

Martijn van der Vlies

I support Anne in her work. I schedule appointments and welcome guests. I sort things out for my colleagues so they can do their jobs well. Warm-hearted hospitality is the common thread in my approach to my work. I love contributing to Fenix, a cultural destination where every visitor will soon feel at home and seen.

Hanneke Mantel

Together with team exhibitions and collection I’m responsible for building FENIX’s collection and for making the exhibitions that will be on view at the museum. Currently, I am working on a big photography exhibition that will open in 2025. I am always searching for new photos – in archives, collections, newspapers or on social media.

Rutger Doop

The quay where we are developing FENIX is one that has shaped world history. Millions of people left from here to build a new future. Many others arrived and built Rotterdam. In the exhibition and the suitcase maze, I work to bring the stories behind this world history to life. In doing so, we are recording this history in the collective memory of the city and far beyond.

Abdelkader Benali

Together with the Fenix team, we are building a collection of highlights about the history of migration. This theme touches me personally because I am a descendant of migrants myself. We tell compelling stories about departure and arrival, leaving or staying. By framing the objects in our collection in a certain way we give wings to stories about migration.

Selinay Sucu

I am looking for personal objects to be part of the museum collection. Objects that represent stories of migration. From your country of origin, one that symbolises your new start or that reminds you of a trip you have made. All objects together show that human migration is a timeless and universal phenomenon while they are carriers of personal experiences at the same time.

Yahui Wang

I take care of every work of art and object in our growing collection. We are building a collection linked to the theme of migration, a story that is always in motion. Every day I support the curators with questions about research, conservation, loans and the installation of the pieces that form our collection.

Zoë Zee

All public events and educational activities at Fenix fall under the programming team. This includes Plein. Together with colleagues and people in the city, we are going to make this 2,000 m2 public space a valuable place for Rotterdam. Do you have an idea or would you like to brainstorm with me about programmes at Fenix? If so, I would love to get in touch with you.

Nicole Katenkari

With the educational offerings I am currently developing for Fenix, I want to spark curiosity on the subject of migration among future museum visitors: ranging from schoolchildren to adults. The programmes I have in mind are designed to make Fenix an open and welcoming place for very many people.

Willemijn van Drunen

Before the opening in 2025, I want to introduce FENIX to as many people as possible through online channels, events and newspapers across Rotterdam, the Netherlands and the world.

Sien Nijdam

Every day I reach out to Fenix's future audiences. How do we involve you in our story? I write social media posts, collect images and stories, supervise printing and support events.

Femke Vos

My ambition is to introduce as many people as possible to Fenix and work with the team to ensure a valuable guest experience, from the first contact to well after a visit. 
I will be engaging with creative makers, partners or the public to develop our campaigns and communication tools.

Bruno Aguilar

With our channels, I build bridges to bring Fenix closer to the public. I want to make sure that everyone, anywhere in the world, is able to immerse in our rich collection, history and personal stories.

Brenda Cumaunang

My work involves finding, developing and retaining talent. Fenix is about feeling at home, about discovering your identity or seeking happiness. The same goes for our staff. Working also means developing yourself and keeping moving. It means that your career is a personal journey of discovery. That’s where I support our staff. Do you think Fenix would suit you? Karina Sandvliet

Are you curious about what is coming to the Fenix shop? I am developing the concept and range for the retail section. Once we are open, you can visit our shop if you are looking for a lovely gift or souvenir.

I work on the development of our organisation and business operations. An important part of this is our vision on hospitality. I will make sure that our visitors and colleagues feel welcome at FENIX.
